12/19/2008 - On Christmas day,
the College of Mount Saint Vincent will host the
non-profit organization, God’s Love We
Deliver. A group of volunteers will work from
campus to prepare approximately 2,100 meals from 9:00
a.m. to 10:00 p.m. These meals will then be personally
delivered to clients, many who are living with HIV/AIDS,
cancer, Alzheimer’s disease and other chronic
illnesses. These clients live in all five New York City
boroughs as well as New Jersey and Hudson County.
12/17/2008 - "The
Connecticut Family Theatre and the Edgerton Center"
will be on campus on December 18 and will perform their
show The Lost Elves. The show is view of how
different cultures celebrate the holidays around the
world.
11/4/2008 - John Kruth,
Professor of music at the College of Mount Saint
Vincent, recently published To Live’s to Fly:
The Ballad of the Late, Great Townes Van
Zandt. The book was selected as the
“Best Musical Biography of the Year” by
the American Society of Composers, Authors &
Publishers Awards (ASCAP). He will be honored on
Tuesday, December 9, at Lincoln Center in New York
City where he will receive the Deems Taylor Award
which recognizes books, articles, liner notes,
broadcasts and websites on the subject of music
selected for their excellence.
11/4/2008 - Professor Cynthia
Meyers, Communications Professor at the College of Mount
Saint Vincent, has been selected to be one of 20 faculty
members to take part in a week long seminar to work
directly with television professionals in the aim of
improving curriculum and faculty expertise. The seminar
will take place on from November 11-15, 2008 at the
Academy of Television Arts and Sciences in Los Angeles.
9/18/2008 - On
Friday, September 19, members of the Class of 2012 will
meet with political leaders from New York State through
their 101 class, a semester long course specifically
designed to introduce freshman to college life. Special
guest speakers will include Senator Jeff Klein,
Assemblyman Mike Spano and Senator Vincent Leibell.
They will discuss the importance of voting in the
upcoming presidential election and the importance for
students to exercise their right to vote.
9/5/2008 - The History Department
at the College of Mount Saint Vincent will host a lecture
with author Tom Phelan to discuss his book, The Canal
Bridge. The work tells the story of two Irish
stretcher-bearers in the British Army trying to stay
alive as they navigate the perils of the trench warfare
in World War I.
7/30/2008 -
Karen Boykin-Towns, a 1987 graduate from the College
of Mount Saint Vincent will begin her new role at
Pfizer as Chief Diversity Officer on August 1, when
she will become a member of Pfizer’s Human
Resources Leadership Team. Her current role as
Senior Director/Team Leader in U.S. Public Affairs
and Policy has led to the company’s highly
successful government relations and public affairs
activities in New York, New Jersey, and
Delaware.

6/20/2008 - The hit crime
drama television show, Law & Order: Criminal
Intent is currently filming portions of an upcoming
episode at the College of Mount Saint Vincent. The
3-day shoot will use various locations throughout
campus as backdrops for the show. Vincent
D’Onofrio (The Cell, Men in Black), Kathryn
Erbe (Stir of Echoes), guest star Joanna Adler, and
all principle actors will be on campus for filming.
5/29/2008 - Kaitlin Christi
Burud, business major and graduating senior at the
College of Mount Saint Vincent has been honored with the
first of its kind, the Marketsmith, Inc. Award for
Entrepreneurship. The award is given to the student who
produces what is judged to be the best original business
plan from among those submitted that year. Ms. Burud was
singled out for her in-depth proposal of a sports-themed
day care center, All Star Day Care.

College of Mount Saint Vincent students Elizabeth
Athenas and Maricon Fernandez were awarded
scholarships to be among 50 college students who
will participate in the third annual Path to Peace
Foundation seminar on Catholic social thought for
Catholic college students.

College of Mount Saint Vincent student, Sasha
Paulino has been awarded with the Jeannette K.
Watson Fellowship. The Fellowship, established
by the Thomas J. Watson Foundation in 1999, is a
three-year program that offers students paid summer
internships, mentoring, and enhanced educational
opportunities to New York City undergraduates who
demonstrate exceptional promise, outstanding
leadership and commitment to the common good.
10/26/2007 - The College of
Mount Saint Vincent’s undergraduate and
graduate Nursing programs have been awarded four
grants totaling more than $2 million from the U.S.
Department of Health and Human Services’
Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA).
The grants, which represent a renewal and doubling
of HRSA grants of $1 million awarded to the College
in 2004, support programs that will expand the
supply of qualified nurses in the New York
metropolitan area and promote diversity within the
nursing profession.
9/17/2007 - Beginning on
August 26, approximately 200 students moved in to
the newly opened Mastronardi Hall. Four days prior,
honorees and guests gathered in Spellman Hall to
celebrate the completion of the new residence hall.
The unveiling of Mastronardi Hall is the latest
culmination of the college’s Building Our
Future capital campaign

Herman Badillo will visit the College of Mount Saint
Vincent on Wednesday, January 31 to read from his
new book One Nation, One Standard: An Ex-Liberal on
How Hispanics Can Succeed Just Like Other Immigrant
Groups.
9/12/2006 - The College of Mount
Saint Vincent will host Edwin Forrest’s New York: A
Bicentennial Conference on Saturday, November 4,
2006. The event commemorates the birth of Edwin
Forrest, one of America’s greatest Shakespearean
actors, in 1807. The conference will be held in the
College’s Administration building beginning at 9:15
a.m.and will culminate at 4:30 p.m.
8/29/2006 - The
College of Mount Saint Vincent is one of 222 select
colleges and universities in the Northeast that The
Princeton Review recommends to college applicants
8/17/2006 - Joan M. Squires has
been elected Chair of the College of Mount Saint
Vincent’s Board of Trustees. Squires is
returning to the Board after a one year hiatus, having
previously served as a Trustee from 1997-2005.
8/17/2006 - Natalia Smirnova,
Assistant Professor of Business and Economics at the
College of Mount Saint Vincent, was among a group of
educators who rang the New York Stock Exchange’s
Opening Bell Tuesday, August 15, 2006.
7/27/2006 - The College of Mount
Saint Vincent’s education programs and curriculum
have been accredited by the Teacher Education
Accreditation Council (TEAC) in recognition of the
quality and success of the programs. The TEAC
evaluation team who visited the College unanimously
supported its application for accreditation.
