Mount Saint Vincent’s Randy Battle Named Skyline Conference Rookie Of The Week

Randy Battle earned his first career Skyline Weekly Award on Monday.
LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – College of Mount Saint Vincent freshman Randy Battle (Bronx, NY) has been named the Skyline Conference Men’s Basketball Rookie of the Week it was announced Monday evening. Battle averaged 15.0 points over three games for the Dolphins to open the 2008-09 season.

Battle had a strong start to his collegiate career over three games last week. Overall he averaged 15.0 points per game, 3.3 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.0 steals for the Dolphins. He eclipsed his previous career-high in points each game, and was the only Dolphins player to record double-figures in each of the first three contests. He scored 13 points in the season opener at Lehman and followed that up with 15 points at Hamilton and 17 points in the Mount’s first win over the season over Wells. For the week he shot 50-percent (16-32) from the field and 86.7-percent (13-15) from the free-throw line. He also grabbed a season and career-high six rebounds at Lehman.

At 1-2 overall on the season, Mount Saint Vincent will be back in action again November 24 at St. Joseph’s-Brooklyn. Tip-Off with the Bears is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
