Transfer Credit Evaluations
• Official transcript evaluations are
performed for all transfer students seeking admission
to the college.
• Once accepted, the official transcript evaluation will be mailed with the acceptance package. • For coursework that is in progress, the college will wait until the work is complete and then do a final transcript evaluation and mail it to the student. • The transcript evaluation will specify how many credits are transferable towards a baccalaureate degree at the College of Mount Saint Vincent.
How we evaluate Transfer Credits
• The courses must be similar in scope and
content to courses offered at Mount Saint
Vincent.
• Only courses in which a C or better earned may be transferred to meet major and core requirements. Nursing students must earn a B or better in all required science courses transferred into the college. • Transfer courses applicable to a student’s academic program will be accepted from all colleges and universities that meet our transferability standards. Whatever your reasons, we welcome your application and urge you to visit our campus. Because we use a rolling admission process, you’ll receive your answer within four weeks of completing your application. Our deadlines for admission are December for the spring and July 1 for the fall.
Read on for our requirements and credit policies:
1. Complete the application. If you apply online, either through the Common Application or through our application, your application fee is waived. Or, you can download a Mount Saint Vincent application, or a Common Application, now, print, and send it in with the $35 fee.
2. Submit an essay on a topic of your choice.
3. To be eligible for admission, you should have earned a 2.0 grade point average or better in your college-level work. Applicants to the NURSING major should have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0, and to the TEACHER EDUCATION program, a cumulative grade point average of a 2.5.
4. If you have earned fewer than 24 college credits, have your SAT or ACT scores sent to the admission office directly from the College Board. Our SAT code is 2088; our ACT code is 2823. You must also have your official high school transcript(s) sent to the admissions office.
5. Have your institution(s) forward official transcript(s) of your college-level work. If you have attended an international university, please have the transripts evaluated by World Education Services (http://www.wes.org/).
6. Have a professor or teacher forward a letter of recommendation, and College Reference Form, on your behalf.
7. Visit. You’ll love our campus, and we’ll get to know you better than we would from just reading your application.
8. Explore financial aid and scholarships. You’ll be considered automatically for merit scholarships when you submit your application. If you’re hoping for need-based aid, you should submit the FAFSA (http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/) to the federal government sometime soon after January 1. Our FAFSA code is 0002703.

Please note: Any student interested in deferring their enrollment and/or acceptance to an upcoming semester must submit the request in writing to the Director of Admission. The admissions committee will review the request and notify the student of a decision within one month of the request. A student can not defer more than two semesters, or one year, from the original acceptance.
