5/22/2007 - Former College
of Staten Island Associate Athletic Director Jason
Fein has been named the college’s new Director
of Athletics. Fein, who has served in the
acting director role since February of 2006, emerged
from a pool of national candidates to replace Dr.
Harold Merritt, who left the school last year for a
similar position at the University of Washington,
DC.

Tournament MVP Lauren Percodani
(Staten Island, NY/St. Joseph by the Sea) scored 14
points and added six assists and four steals, while
freshman Courtney Heesemann (New
Hyde Park, NY/New Hyde Park HS) notched a
double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds,
including several crucial baskets down the stretch
as the Mount Saint Vincent Women's Basketball
team capped an undefeated season in conference play
by capturing the 2007 Hudson Valley Women's
Athletic Conference (HVWAC) Tournament Championship
with a 59-54 win over third-seeded College of Saint
Elizabeth on Sunday during a game played at the
Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York. With the win,
Mount Saint Vincent improves to 16-9 and sweeps the
HVWAC regular season and post-season championships
... but the win was anything but easy as Saint
Elizabeth proved to be every bit as worthy as the
HVWAC crown.
12/1/2006 - For the
second consecutive season, the Sarah Lawrence College
Women's Swimming team swept the Hudson Valley
Women's Athletic Conference regular season and
post-season championships, winning Friday night's
championship meet by an overwhelming margin, outscoring
runner-up Purchase College 499-336 en route to the title.
The Gryphons earned a total of 19 medals during the 14
events, including two meet records. A total of three
records fell on Friday night during the event held at
Sarah Lawrence College.

Freshmen Rachel Schneider and Sarah Leatherbarrow enjoyed
commanding performances performances and the
Gryphons' Women's Swimming team captured first
place in 13 out of 14 events as Sarah Lawrence clinched
the 2006 Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference
(HVWAC) Regular Season Swimming Championship with a 90-32
win over Saint Elizabeth on Saturday. With the win, Sarah
Lawrence improves to 6-0 overall, including 5-0 in HVWAC
competition.

The Pratt Institute is the 2006 Hudson Valley
Women's Athletic Conference Cross Country
Champion after a thrilling win over Mount Saint
Vincent on Friday at Van Cortlandt Park. The
Cannoneers earned the top two finishes and finished
with 24 team points, 13 points ahead of Mount Saint
Vincent. Medgar Evers finished third with 65 points,
while St. Joseph's College finished in fourth
place with 120 points. Cooper Union entered an
individual runner but was not eligible for the team
championship.
11/4/2006 - Junior
Marzena Stadnicka earned Tournament
Most Valuable Player honors as the St. Joseph's
College Women's Volleyball team captured the
2006 Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference
(HVWAC) Championship with a 3-0 win over Mount Saint
Vincent on Saturday at Sarah Lawrence College. With
the win, the Lady Bears finish the 2006 season with
an impressive 21-2 record, including a sweep of
HVWAC competition during which they did not lose a
single game.

Senior Lauren Baydal, who led the College of Staten
Island to a third place finish in the Scarlet
Raid er Classic at Rutgers-Newark over the weekend,
was selected as the Player of the Week in
Women's Volleyball as the Hudson Valley
Women's Athletic Conference (HVWAC) announced
its Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week
selections in Soccer, Volleyball, and Tennis for
Sept. 12. Reporting for Cross Country will
begin next week.

Mount Saint Vincent Director of Athletics
Cathy Ingram has announced the
hiring of Michael Murphy as the
school’s Head Men’s and Women’s
Cross Country Coach. Murphy, a Riverdale resident,
who is currently the Head Men’s Basketball
Coach at the Mount, takes over a program experience
a rebirth at the Mount and will compete in its
second varsity season after a one-year hiatus during
the 2006 season.

Mount Saint Vincent Director of Athletics
Cathy Ingram has announced the
hiring of Jessica Stzabnik as
Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach. The former
Jessica Nowak is a 2001 graduate of NYU where she
was a four-year letter winner for their powerhouse
Women’s Basketball team. Stzabnik started 88
games during her career and was a Co-Captain of the
2000-01 team that advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals
playing under legendary Head Coach Janice Quinn.
